Commercial Recycling

Starting Point: In 2011, there was no formal plan or code revisions to increase the commercial recycling rate in Salt Lake City.

2015 Target: Formal plan to increase commercial recycling developed and adopted. As necessary, adopt any code revisions to implement the plan.

Update: In an effort to increase business recycling and reduce waste to the landfill, Salt Lake City passed a Business & Multi-Family Recycling Ordinance on December 8, 2015. The ordinance was put into effect January, 4, 2016. Waste haulers have six months to become authorized with the city, and business and multi-family properties have two years to comply.
